MOTD preview- Real Madrid vs Manchester United

By on February 12, 2013

This Champions League Round of 16 tie between Real Madrid and Manchester United is a mouthwatering prospect being played at the Bernabeu.  The last time the two giants met was in United’s thrilling 4-3 win at Old Trafford in the 2002/2003 Champions League Quarterfinals, with Madrid winning the first leg of the tie 3-1 at the Bernabeu.  The biggest news surrounding the match is that Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo is playing United for the first time since his move from them to Madrid for £80m in the summer of 2009, making him the most expensive player in history.  He has said that it is on his agenda to return to United, but did not state when.  United defender Rio Ferdinand has said that it will be an emotional experience for the winger, who made his breakthrough for United in the 2006/2007 season.  Whether Ronaldo gets emotional or not, the game will make headlines, so look out for my halftime and full time review of it, right here on Football Every Day!
