MOTD preview- Chelsea vs Manchester City

By on April 14, 2013

Chelsea are set to take on Manchester City in an FA Cup semifinal at Wembley, with both sides looking to meet Wigan in the final.  Wigan, who beat Millwall 2-0 on Saturday, reached the final for the first time ever, and whoever wins this semi will be favored to go on to win the competition.  Both sides will desperately want the silverware, after both crashed out of the Champions League, League Cup, and the Premier League seems all but over with Manchester United twelve points atop the table with only eight games left in the season.  Chelsea though, can still win a European trophy this season, and the West London club will play FC Basel in the semifinals of the Europa League.

City are still yet to allow a goal in the competition, and have won all of their four FA Cup matches this season, with a stunning goal differential of thirteen from those matches.  Chelsea have also been on blistering form in the competition, and are yet to lose, winning four of their six matches.  Rafa Benitez’s side have also been on good form in the Premier League, and although going through a bad run of form in January, have recovered, losing only two of their last six matches.  City have been on even better form than Chelsea in the Premier League, and come of the back of a 2-1 Manchester Derby win.  Whether City can to as well as they did against Manchester United, the match is sure to be exciting, so look out for my full time review, right here on Football Every Day!
