MOTD- Chelsea 1-2 Manchester City

Manchester City have reached the FA Cup final, after Sergio Aguero and Samir Nasri gave them a  2-1 win against Chelsea in the semifinals at Wembley.  City started the match comletely dominant, and almost went up within six minutes when Yaya Toure received a half-cleared corner at the edge of the box.  Toure deflected Gareth Barry’s pass towards goal, but before it could reach Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech, Sergio Aguero prodded it to the corner of the goal from four yards out, forcing Cech into a remarkable diving save to his right.  City continued their dominance, with their speed of play wonderfully fast.  Roberto Mancini’s side again almost opened the scoring when Samir Nasri got Carlos Tevez in on goal down the right, and Tevez elected not to cross, instead tried to beat Cech at his near post, who did well to beat the ball out for a corner.

City were thrashing Chelsea, but their London based opponents almost took the lead anyway, and Vincent Kompany had to headed Oscar’s bouncing volley from the edge of the box off the line.  Despite Chelsea starting to find their way into the match, City went up on in the thirty-fifth minute when Toure charged through the Chelsea half, before playing it to Tevez, who one touched it to Nasri.  Nasri got lucky, and his poor first touch bounced back to him off Ryan Bertrand, and from four yards out, Nasri side-footed it past Cech into the back of the net.  City looked like they could score another, and when Kompany receivedCech’s punch on a counter-attack, the Belgian really should have scored, but shoot it wide from eight yards out.  But Mancini’s side couldn’t score again before the break, which ended 1-0.

Amazingly, City doubled their lead only two minutes into the second half, and when Barry was allowed to much space on the right, he swung a tantalizing cross into the box, which Aguero reached at the far post.  The Argentine’s header back flew across goal to the near post, and bounced off the post and in, with Cech helpless.  Chelsea desperately needed a change, and literally only seconds after Fernando Torres was brought on in the sixty-sixth minute, and when City failed to deal with David Luiz’s long ball, it fell to Demba Ba six yards out from goal, who acrobatically volleyed it past City goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon into the back of the net.

Chelsea suddenly looked much more dangerous, and Pantilimon amazingly scraped the ball away from Juan Mata just as the Spaniard was about to pull the trigger in the box.  Seconds later Pantilimon was forced into another brilliant stop, and when Eden Hazard ran town the right and cut it back for Ba, Pantilimon brilliantly chested the forwards first time shot away.  Luiz hit a dipping free-kick just wide of the post, but Chelsea could not complete the comeback, and after three minutes of added time City won 2-1, sealing them a spot in the finals.
