Arsenal told to “forget about” Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba

Arsenal’s transfer window has suffered yet another blow with Juventus’ warning to “forget about” young midfielder Paul Pogba. The Italian club’s general director Beppe Marotta, speaking on Wednesday, said Juventus have no intentions of selling the former Manchester United player.

“Forget about Pogba,” Marotta told Italian newspaper Tuttosport. “We do not have the slightest intention of listening to any offer which may arrive for our midfielder.”

Pogba moved to the Turin club last summer after not getting enough chances at Manchester United, but had a fantastic first season at the heart of Juventus’ midfield. The 20-year-old has no intentions of leaving, and will be looking to improve on his two France caps through more stellar performances this season.

The refusal to sell Pogba comes as a further dent in Arsenal hearts following what has been a disastrous transfer window for the Gunners. Already having failed to sign Luis Suarez from Liverpool, Arsenal have been turned down by Real Madrid’s Gonzalo Higuain, who joined Napoli, Luis Gustavo (who moved to Wolfsburg from Bayern Munich) and Bayern Leverkusen’s Lars Bender, while manager Arsene Wenger also has not to moved Newcastle United with a rejected £10 million bid for French midfielder Yohan Cabaye. So, as proved in their 3-1 loss to Aston Villa on the opening day of the Premier League, the English club will need to get their summer back on track if a top-four finish is coming.
