Hunt, who is yet to play for Palace, joined the newly promoted Premier League club for a reported £2 million on deadline day, but is facing up to four months on the sidelines after sustaining the broken ankle in training.

The right-back is a product of the Huddersfield academy, and at the young age of 22 looks a good signing for the London club.

Regarding the injury, Hunt wrote on social network Twitter. “Absolutely devastated to have broken my ankle in training. Got to take the positives, clean break and no op needed.”

Hunt, who made 104 appearances for Huddersfield town in just over four seasons, added: “Massive thanks to everyone at CPFC. Chairman, manager, coaching staff, physios and the lads have been unreal.”
