Beat it: The Michael Jackson statue at Craven Cottage will be returned to Fulham’s former owner

The Michael Jackson statue installed by former Fulham owner Mohamed Al Fayed outside Craven Cottage is set to be returned the Egyptian billionaire.

Fayed, who sold Fulham to Shahid Khan in a deal worth £150 million last summer, had the statue built behind the Hammersmith stand in commemoration to the late signer in 2011 after insisting the Thriller signer was a fan of the Cottagers. But it seems that the Hotel Ritz Paris owner has decided to move the statue to another one of his many properties despite Fayed threatening to chop of Fulham’s current owner Khan’s mustache if the American removed the larger than life-size statue of “The King of Pop.”

A Fulham spokesperson confirmed the statue would not be part of the Thames’ club’s redevelopment of Craven Cottage.

“The statue is not part of the Riverside development of the stadium and will be returned to the former chairman in due course.”
