Sacred: Barcelona have announced plans to build a mausoleum underneath the Nou Camp.

Barcelona have announced their plans to build mausoleum in which fans can pay to have their remains stored that is set to be built under the club’s stadium. The Spanish champions’ plan is to incorporate room for up to 30,000 urns to be placed underneath their stadium, either under a renovated Camp Nou or a new stadium in which the club will move into.

“This is in response to the historical demand from members who want their remains laid to rest at the stadium,”  Josep Ramon Vidal-Abarca, Barcelona’s director of facilities.

Reportedly, there will initially be space for 500 urns which fans will be able to rent for 50 to 99 periods at prices between €3,000 and €6,000.

Giem Sports’ chief executive officer Sani Bach, who’s employer is a partner in the project, said on the plan: “Memorial Space FC Barcelona aims to be a link with the club forever, a tribute to those who wish to be bound forever to the club.”
