Cazorla signs Arsenal contract extension

Santi Cazorla has joined Aaron Ramsey and Gedion Zelalem in a trio of Arsenal players to extend their contract at the Emirates coming into the Premier League run-in.  The Spaniard, who has directly contributed to 8 goals in 23 league appearances for Arsenal so far this season, will now be tied down in London into his mid-thirties with the new deal, while Ramsey, arguably Arsenal’s player of the season, penned a five-year extension.

“I feel like there’s plenty more to come. This season I’ve proven a lot of people wrong,” Ramsey told Arsena’s official website.

“There was a tough time in the period after my injury, but I’ve got through that and I feel really confident and feel like I’m improving with every game. Hopefully now I can get back out onto that pitch as quickly as possible and show what I’m capable of doing and hopefully finish off the season in some style as well.”

Meanwhile, Gedion Zelalem’s contract is the 17-year-old’s first ever professional deal and will keep the German born midfielder at the London-based club until 2016. Zelalem only officially joined Arsenal’s first team in January, having broken into their under-21 squad when he moved to Arsenal from Hertha Berlin almost right months ago. The imaginative midfielder is expected to eventually star in Arsenal’s midfield, so long as he isn’t plucked up by anther top side. His new contract, of course, is moving to prevent that.
