Former Barcelona manager Tito Vilanova dies aged 45

Former Barcelona manager Tito Vilanova has tragically lost his battle with throat cancer aged 45.

The Spanish born manager, who was in charge of Barcelona during the 2012/2013 season, had his managerial career cut short by cancer, and now has also had his life cut far to short because of a relapse of the throat cancer. Barcelona, for whom he lead to the La Liga title last season, announced the horrible news via Twitter, writing: “The FC Barcelona is in immense mourning. Tito Vilanova has died at the age of 45. May he rest in peace.”

Barca president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, also wrote his fair-well to Vilanova on Twitter, tweeting: “Tito Vilanova was a wonderful person, and will never be forgotten at FC Barcelona. Thank you for everything you taught us. Rest in peace.”

The rest of the footballing world have also sent their condolences to the friends and family of Vilanova, as do we.
