MOTD Halftime- Newcastle United 1-0 Chelsea

By on February 2, 2013

Newcastle is beating Chelsea 1-0 at St James Park with Jonas Gutierrez putting Newcastle ahead. At the start of the half the run of play was about equal, with both sides keeping possession in their half. That changed though, when Chelsea’s Demba Ba broke free, but his shot was straight at Newcastle goalkeeper Tim Krul. The ball rebounded back off Krul and Ba’s header went just wide of the post. But when he was heading the ball Newcastle defender Coloccini kicked him in the face, and Ba needed to be subbed. Soon after that Newcastle broke the deadlock when a Davide Santon cross found the head of Jonas Gutierrez and flew past Petr Cech into the back of the net in the fortieth minute. Newcastle dominated after that, but the scored stayed the same. But the rest of the game is sure to be exciting, so look out for my end of match review, right here on Football Every Day!
