MOTD- Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 Newcastle United

This game was a good one, with Gareth Bale getting two great goals.  Bale started the game in the mood, and after playing a little one-two with new signing Lewis Holtby in the second minute, his cross was just cut out by Davide Santon before Clint Dempsey could head it in.  Newcastle had escaped that time, but just two minutes later in the fourth minute Newcastle defender Fabricio Coloccini rammed into Dempsey earning Tottenham a free kick twenty-five yard out from the Newcastle goal.  Bale lined up to take the free kick in a Cristiano Ronaldo-like stance, and his kick matched Ronaldo’s best too.  It flew about six inches above the wall, and then stared dipping with unbelievable rate past Tim Krul into the bottom right corner.  Tottenham dominated the rest of the opening quarter, but after that Newcastle started to press the Tottenham goal and the flow of the game changed in their favor.  Soon after that Newcastle leveled the scoring, and in the twenty-fourth minute Newcastlenew signing Moussa Sissoko crossed the ball to one of Newcastle’s other new signings, Yoan Gouffran, who’s shot wickedly deflected of a diving Michael Dawson, and past a wrong footed Hugo Lloris into the back of the net.  Tottenham failed to up their game after that, but Newcastle could not score again in the half.  But even at the start of the second half Tottenham did not up their game, and they only did after Gouffran had to be stretchered off from a Kyle Walker challenge in the fifty-ninth minute.  Bale looked Tottenham’s best hope for getting them in front, and he did in the seventy-eighth minute when Newcastle’s centre-backs Coloccini and Steven Taylor’s mix-up allowed Bale in on goal, and he nutmeged Krul to slot it into the back of the net.  Newcastle tried to equalize in the final minutes, but failed, and the score ended Tottenham 2-1 Newcastle.
