Newcastle United midfielder Cheick Tiote has had his car, a £75,000 Chevrolet Camaro, seized by police and has been arrested on suspicion of fraud.  The twenty-six year old Ivorian, who just returned from the African Cup of Nations, has been arrested by Northumbria police for suspicion of fraud on driving offenses, after being puled over by police for questioning.

Northumbria Police announced “At about 1.30pm on Tuesday, a car was stopped on Benton Park Road, Newcastle, and a 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of fraud in relation to driving offenses.”

They have confirmed that inquiries are ongoing, but Newcastle United have declined to comment on the arrest.
