Suarez open to Liverpool exit

Liverpool star Luis Suarez has hinted that he will leave the Premier League side in the summer for a side competing in the Champions League.  The twenty-six-year-old speaking in South America said that he his happy at Liverpool but also said “you never know in football.”  The in-form forward is the top scorer in the English Premier League so far, scoring twenty-two goals.  He has scored twenty-nine goals in all competitions this season, and is currently away with the Uruguay national squad preparing for their World Cup qualifiers.

“I am very happy at Liverpool but you never know in football,” Suarez said to the Liverpool Echo in South America before Uruguay’s World Cup qualifier with Paraguay on Friday.

“A player’s ambition is always there, the ambition of wanting to play in elite teams is always there. I’m in a world-class team, an elite team like Liverpool. We have to realize we have a new manager who is imposing a philosophy and a way of playing that the players are adapting to as best we can. We hope it will bear fruit next year.”If another team comes around with more prospects of competing in international club competition games, which is willing to have me, they are welcome. We would talk to the club. We would see if I want to go, if I don’t want to go.”

Bayern Munich and Juventus lead the pack of clubs who are keen on signing the Uruguayan, and French club Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in buying the forward.  Although Liverpool are not keen on selling Suarez, and manger Brenden Rodgers insists that player’s future remains at Anfield.

Suarez has had his controversial moments for Liverpool, and earned a eight match ban and a 40,000 pound fine from the English FA for racially abusing Manchester United defender Patrice Evra in 2011.  After speaking of his future at Liverpool, Suarez went on to defended his fiery temperament.

“I have a very strange way of playing football,” Suarez said. “I’m my own severest critic and I realize when I make mistakes.

“There are times that I get yellow cards that can influence a game. I have improved and I have to continue improving

“You can lose some things but you can never lose the slyness, the passion that you have had since you were a kid playing in the street. If I didn’t have the character that I have today on the pitch, I don’t think that I would have become the player that I am today.”
