MOTD halftime- Swansea City 0-2 Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur are up 2-0 at the Liberty Stadium, with Swansea needing a small miracle to get themselves back into the match. Tottenham started the match on top, and amazingly took the lead in the sixth minute when Jan Vertonghen played the ball to Gareth Bale in the center of the Swansea half. Vertonghen ventured forward, and Bale chipped the ball above the Swansea defense to Vertonghen. The center-back took the ball out of the air, and coolly volleyed past Swansea goalkeeper Michel Vorm to put Tottenham 1-0 up. Spurs started to dominate possession, with Swansea starting to fall out of the match. Tottenham almost doubled their lead in the twelfth minute when a brilliant through ball put Emmanuel Adebayor. The Togo international took the ball into the box, and hit a low shot on goal, but the shot was easily saved by an oncoming Vorm.

Spurs stayed on top, and doubled their lead in the twentieth minute when Vertonghen played the ball to Bale right outside the Swansea box. Bale hit a beautiful first-time outside of the boot shot that curled into the corner of the net leaving Vorm hapless. Swansea started to get themselves back into the match, but needed a miracle to come back into the match before halftime. The Swans almost scored in the thirtieth minute when Nathan Dyer met a cross form two yards out from goal. Dyer’s header looked like it was in, but hit the top crossbar and bounced wide. Tottenham slowed the tempo of the match, and neither side could score again before the break, and after two minutes of injury time, the first half ended 2-0.
