Liverpool insist Suarez is not for sale

Speculation over Luis Suarez’s future continues as Liverpool insist the forward is not for sale after Suarez suggested that the English media may force him out of Liverpool. Suarez suggested he was keen to leave Liverpool on Thursday in an interview with Uruguayan radio station, claiming he had been excessively attacked by the media for his bite on Chelsea defender during Liverpool’s 2-2 draw against The Blues in April.

The 26-year-old said he was ready to leave the club, but a Liverpool spokesman claimed the Uruguayan had not told The Reds anything about leaving the club, and insisted he was not for sale.

“Luis Suarez is not for sale,” The spokesman said. “Neither Luis nor his representatives have communicated these feelings directly to Liverpool Football Club. The club remains supportive of Luis and expects him to honour his contract. The club will not be making any further comment at this stage.”

Suarez, who moved to Liverpool from Aiax Amsterdam for 22.8 million pounds in 2011, scored thirty goals last season, but still has to serve the remaining six matches of his ten-match ban given to him for the bite on Ivanovic, casting the forwards future in major doubt.
