Jose Mourinho has been confirmed as the manager of Chelsea, with the 50-year-old signing a four year contract for his predicted return to London. Mourinho, who left Chelsea in 2007, had been heavy favorite to take over from interim manager Rafa Benitez at The Blues, and the London-based club have now confirmed Mourinho will re-join the club. Chelsea will officially announce the Portuguese manager’s appointment at a press conference on Monday, roughly six months after speculation that Mourinho would take over at The Blues began.

The Portuguese manager left Chelsea back in 2007 after a successful four year reign with the club, which saw the club become Premier League champions twice, win the FA and League Cup twice. Although Mourinho joined Internazionale after leaving Chelsea, he was still a legend at among the Blues’ fans, who have sought to bring him Mourinho back to East London for over two years.

Mourinho won the Champions League as part of Inter’s famous Italian treble in 2010, but soon moved on to Real Madrid. He brought the La Liga title back to Madrid in 2011/12, but eventually [left the club as of mutual consent at the end of last season, after falling out with all but three players of the Madrid squad.

The “Special One,” as he often calls himself, is disliked by many non-Chelsea-and-Inter-fans, but is not frightened to re-join the Premier League. Following the confirmation of his move Mourinho said: “I promise exactly the same things I promised in 2004, with this difference to help – which is I’m one of you.”

He added: “In football, in my career I’ve had two great passions, Inter and Chelsea, and Chelsea is more than important for me.

“It was very, very hard to play against Chelsea and I did it only twice, which was not so bad.
