Djibril Cisse leaves QPR by mutual consent

Queens Park Rangers forward Drjibril Cisse has left the London-based club by mutual consent after QPR were relegated from the English Premier League last season. Having moved to Loftus Road in 2012 for 4 million pounds from Lazio, Cisse had a successful, yet hectic, term in London, scoring 10 goals in his 29 appearances for the club.

But the Frenchman spent the end of last season on loan in Qatar at Al-Garafa, and during his loan QPR were relegated to the Championship.

Although still having a year left on his contract at QPR, the 31-year-old has decided to move on after a frenzied year in London. Cisse was sent off twice during his stay at QPR, including the infamous incident in which he grabbed the throat of Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Roger Johnson.

A brief statement on QPR’s website confirmed the news, reading : “The club would like to thank Djibril for his contribution and wish him all the best for the future.”
