By on July 2, 2013

Barely 24 hours into the opening of the summer transfer window, we bring you are final edition of the top five summer transfer targets list. Although not necessarily the most wanted player among the top five, (doo, doo doo!), Luis Suarez is part of that elite group of player likely to begin a transfer war this summer. So, here is the completion of the list:

Luis Suarez (Liverpool and Uruguay)

Real Madrid are among the list of clubs interested in Liverpool’s forward

Liverpool’s controversial front-man has made his desire to move known, sparking the interest of multiple clubs. The lack of European football and the fact the he will be suspended for The Red’s first six Premier League matches next season is clearing the way for a potential move to Real Madrid or Manchester City.

Having scored 30 goals in 44 appearances for Liverpool last season, Suarez almost single-handedly drove on Brendan Rodgers’ side’s bid for fifth place last season. In hot form the 26-year-old also made 11 assists last season, but was forced to miss the final four matches of Liverpool’s Premier League campaign due to suspension. Suarez was handed a 10-match ban for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic in his side’s 2-2 draw at Chelsea in April, and that along with being found guilty of racially abusing Manchester United left-back Patrice Evra in 2011 has made the Uruguayan very unpopular among many fans, hurting a potential big-money move.

Suarez’s remarkable technical and aerial ability has caught the eye of Real Madrid, who have shown much interest in the forward. But the former Ajax player, who has scored 35 goals in 69 senior caps for Uruguay, is behind multiple players Los Blancos’ list of targets, meaning unless Suarez moves to another top club in England, where he has claimed the press treat him unfairly, he has a chance of staying at Anfield.
