Cesc Fabregas could make a move back to England as Manchester United hand Barcelona a 30m bid for the midfielder.

Manchester United have made a €30 million bid for Barcelona’s Cesc Fabregas as new manager David Moyes looks to strengthen his side’s ragged midfield early on in the summer transfer window. United’s new gaffer had already attempted to sign his No1 target Thiago Alcantara, but lost out to Bayern Munich, and now he hops to secure the signature of Fabregas to fill the gaping holes in his midfield.

The Scot wishes to pair Fabregas, who moved to Barcelona for €29 million in 2011, alongside the 26-year-old’s former teammate Robin van Persie in the same deadly duo they formed at Arsenal from 2006 to 2011. Although Van Persie provides most of the goals for the Red Devils, Moyes wants a midfielder who can score too, which is why he targeted Fabregas. Having netted 20 goals for Barca since his move to Spain, the Spaniard has played a false No9 for Spain, proving his eye for goals.

Fabregas is obviously not a central part of Tito Villanova’s, Barca’s manager, future plans, but, as the Catalan club are not keen on letting the World Cup winner go, the deal still hinges on whether the former Champions League champions are willing to sell the Spanish international. Publicly Fabregas is
not for sale, so United’s bid surprised the PFA Player of the Year, meaning he is yet to fuel any speculation by commenting on the potential move.

The Euro 2008 and 2012 winner rose through the ranks at Barca’s famed academy La Masia, developing his technical and tiki-taka skills, but learned the physical side of the game while at Arsenal. This balance of ability would make him the perfect fit at Old Trafford if the move were to come through, and if Barca were to accept the bid the move would be all but wrapped up as no other club have shown much interest in Fabregas.

United are also looking to sign Everton’s Marouane Fellaini in a bid to bolster their midfield, with Moyes hoping to rejoin the Belgian in a move worth around €25 million. Everton though will likely want more for the in-form attacking-midfielder, who scored 12 times for the Toffes last season.
