Manchester City are set to complete another high profile signing in the form of Stevan Jovetic

Manchester City are close to capturing Stevan Jovetic as Fiorentina announced they have reached an agreement to sell forward to the English club for £22 million. Although the deal still hinges on whether Jovetic passes a medical at the Etihad on Friday, City have all but completed their fourth high-profile signing of the summer as they continue to rebuild their squad.

The Premier League runners-up have already brought in Jesus Navas and Fernandinho to fill gaps made by the departures of Carlos Tevez and Mario Balotelli, with Sevilla’s Alvaro Negredo also close to completing a move to the Sky Blues. Now the former English champions are set to sign their long-term target in the form of Jovetic for a fair price of £22m after Fiorentina announced the sale on their official twitter account.

“An agreement has been reached with Manchester City Football Club for the permanent sale of the player Stevan Jovetic,” the Italian club tweeted.

The versatile 23-year-old plays best just behind No9, but can play in an attacking midfielder position or winger. Jovetic scored 13 goals in Serie A last season, helping La Viola to a fourth place finish, and attracting interest from Arsenal and Manchester United. The forward will join a new look City side though, joining Manuel Pellegrini’s long list of new signings. The Chilean manager has already spent around £90 million in new additions since his appointment in June, with most of the money going towards adding to the club’s midfield.
