Belgian winger Nacer Chadli looks set to move to Tottenham Hotspur for £7m

Tottenham Hotspur are set to complete their second major signing of the summer as they agree a fee of £7 million with FC Twente for Belgian international Nacer Chadli. The 23-year-old will travel to London to finalize personal terms and undergo a medical at White Hart Lane and if the deal suffers no late hitch Chadli should join his new teammates in Hong-Kong for pre-season training. Chadli could also be part of manager Andre Villas-Boas’ side that will compete in the Barclays Asia Trophy which starts on Wednesday, assuming the deal is completed quickly.

With Villas-Boas looking to add another forward option to his squad, Chadli’s 21 goals in just 80 Dutch Eredivisie appearances for Twente over the last three season’s put him on Tottenham’s radar. The goalscoring winger also scored in both of Twente’s 2010/11 Champions League ties against Tottenham after moving to Twente from Apeldoorn in the summer of 2010.

If the move comes through Chadli will become Spurs’ second major signing of the summer transfer window, following Brazilian holding midfielder Paulinho to North London. The quick starlet is hoping to use his Premier League appearances next season to cement his spot in the Belgian national team’s starting lineup. He has already earned 14 caps for Belgium following his decision to represent the European country instead of Morocco, for which he made one non-competitive appearance.
