Tottenham in talks over €100m plus Morata proposal bid for Bale
Tottenham Hotspur are in talks with Real Madrid over a potential world-record fee for Gareth Bale, with Tottenham wanting Alvaro Morata as a makeweight. While Madrid have already offered €100m, Bale’s English employers rejected the world-record bid, but now claim they will probably accept an offer in that region if it included “Spain’s future No9” Alvaro Morata.
The Spanish club have already added first team players’ Fabio Coentrao and Angel Di Maria into some of their various proposal’s, although they would hesitate to lose the 20-year-old. Morata, who is set to break into Carlo Ancelotti’s starting-lineup next season, is dubbed as one of the worlds best young talents, and has already impressed by winning the Golden Boot at the European Under-21 Championships. Real also sold Gonzalo Higuain to Napoli earlier this summer in preparation for Morata, yet they are desperate to sign Bale, meaning they could offer the €100m package bid.
Los Blancos’ new manager Carlo Ancelotti confirmed the club was at least in talks over the deal, speaking from a training camp in Los Angeles. “It is difficult to talk about Bale because at the moment he is not a Real Madrid player,” Ancelotti said.. “I believe the club is in talks to find a solution and we will see what happens.”
Bale, who has been a long-term target Madrid looked like he would remain at Tottenham through the next season as Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy remained adamant that their star winger would do so, before Bale demanded they opened up talks with his Spanish suitors. Still, a package deal would be hard to get through because of it’s complexity, with Morata having recently signed a new contract at the Bernabeu that runs until 2015 not helping matters.
