Giggs had his wicked near-post header from a Nani blocked by Simon Mignolet, and Nani then saw his low drive from the edge o the box pushed wide to his left by Mignolet. Van Persie’s desperate shot from a tight angle on the right after he was slipped in by substitute Javier Hernandez flew into the side netting in the eighty-sixth minute, and although five minutes of added time were announced by the fourth official, United could not find an equalizer. Raheem Sterling flashed a shot from the edge of the box wide in the last minute, as Liverpool held on to their 100% record.
