Liverpool have a been dealt a fresh injury blow as Philippe Coutinho has been ruled out until late October with a shoulder injury sustained in The Red’s 2-2 draw against Swansea City on Monday.
Coutinho, who joined Liverpool for £8.5 million from Internazionale last January, could miss Premier League matches against Southampton, Sunderland, Crystal Palace and Newcastle United, while he will also be unavailable for the Red’s Capital One Cup tie against Manchester United after he landed awkwardly after being fouled during Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Swansea.
“Liverpool have confirmed Philippe Coutinho will undergo a procedure on the shoulder injury he sustained in Monday evening’s 2-2 draw with Swansea City,” a club statement read.
“After being assessed by the Reds medical staff, it’s been decided that Coutinho will now have surgical stabilization on the AC joint in his shoulder. Liverpool hope to have the 21-year-old back in contention again towards the end of October.”
