Manchester United manager David Moyes said he hopes to work with Cristiano Ronaldo before the forward retires

Manchester United manager David Moyes claimed he hopes to someday work with Cristiano Ronaldo after witnessing his outstanding performance against Sweden on Tuesday.

Ronaldo has scored twenty-seven goals in just twenty matches for Real Madrid this season, not to mention ten goals in eight internationals for Portugal, thus leading Moyes reveal he would be open to welcoming the winger back to United, the club in which he spent six years of his career before moving to Spain.  In fact, the 28-year-old had been heavily linked with a move back to Manchester following claims that he was “sad” at Madrid, but speculation was shut down after Ronaldo tied his future to the La Liga runner’s up by signing a new five-year contract.

However, this has not stopped Moyes from saying he wants to manage the 2008 Ballon d’Or winner, who is Portugal’s joint all-time top scorer at 47 goals in 109 appearances, following Ronaldo’s hat-trick in Sweden that sealed Portugal a spot in the World Cup.

“Everyone at Manchester United would tell you he is the best in the business anyway,” Moyes told MUTV.  “I have not been fortunate enough to work with him but there is still hope someday it might be possible.”

The former United player is favorite to win the Ballon d’Or after one of his most successful years in football, having scored 70 goals in 58 matches for both club and country in 2013.  Ronaldo already has many public backers, including Iker Casillas and Hugo Almeida, who have both expressed a view that Ronaldo is by far the best footballer in the world.  Former Untied teammate Anderson joined the list of his supporters after claiming the Portuguese international is “an amazing player”.

“When you have Ronaldo it makes it easy,” the Brazilian said.

“He scores all the time. He scored three goals on Tuesday. He is an amazing player, for me the best player in the world.”
