Arsenal plan possible FA Cup final victory parade

By on May 5, 2014

Arsenal have already made arrangements for a victory parade following their FA Cup final against Hull City should they win the match, which would mean finally winning their first piece of silverware since 2005. Although when they won the same title back in 2003 and 2005 no bus-top parade with the trophy was made, but undoubtedly a title win for The Gunners this year would mark it a special occasion.

Having not won a single title in nearly nine years now, the club have become desperate for titles, and can only hope they will not fall against Hull as they did against Birmingham City in the league cup final three years ago. As with this year’s final, Arsenal are odds on favorites to win the cup in 2011, yet Birmingham still pulled off a stunning victory all the same. That was six years after Arsenal had last won a title and the club was vying for trophies – it is only true to say that their need for silverware has doubled by now. So, even if Arsene Wenger’s side don’t win the final, it will be a memorable occasion. But if they do, well, they will have a victory parade to celebrate it.

The parade will be held through the streets of Islington, in North London, and would be their first since when they paraded the streets of London back in 2004 to celebrate going a whole Premier League season unbeaten. The parade would start at 11am in London, and then follow a route through Drayton Park, Aubert Park, Highbury Park, Highbury Grove, St Paul’s Road and into Upper Street. The team would then be given a reception at the Islington Assembly Hall.

Of course, a trophy would also assure Wenger has status as Arsenal manager. The 64-year-old recently promised to sign a new contract extension that would keep him at the Emirates until the end of the 2014/2015 season, but with a trophy it is likely that the manager will stay at Arsenal until his retirement – especially with the club’s recent flourish in talent.

Goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny said how much confidence knowing Wenger will be their manager next season would be, saying: “It would be huge for us. We all trust him. He’s our manager and he’s shown a lot of trust in a lot of the players at this club and we owe a lot to him. It would be great to see him stay for a long time.”
